Nyanga National Park
About
Nyanga National Park is located in the northern part of Zimbabwe’s Eastern Highlands. At its heart stands Mount Nyangani, the highest point in Zimbabwe at 2,592 meters (8,504 feet), while the southern section of the park features Mutarazi Falls, the country’s tallest waterfall, plunging 762 meters.
The park's landscape is a picturesque mix of rolling green hills, dense pine and wattle forests, as well as flat-top acacias and dwarf msasa trees. Its cool, misty valleys are home to vibrant proteas, everlastings, and sprawling fruit orchards. Nyanga is also a haven for birdwatchers, boasting over 300 bird species, including a variety of migratory birds that arrive between November and April.
The park’s crystal-clear perennial streams are stocked with rainbow trout, offering exceptional fly fishing opportunities in Mare, Rhodes, Gulliver, and Purdon lakes. For those interested in bream fishing, Udu Lake is the dedicated spot. Nyanga National Park’s diverse flora, fauna, and recreational offerings make it a prime destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
